During Ramadan, one should meditate, pray and purify oneself of sins. During Ramadan there is an emphasis on fasting during the day, but it is also about strengthening one's relationship with Allah (may He be exalted) through worship, declaring His greatness and praying to Him. Ramadan is a special time in Islam, but the last 10 nights are of great significance as they include the Night of Power, which is known in Arabic as Laylat-al-Qadr. Allah (may He be exalted) has made this night a great blessing and virtue. In the Qur'an, Allah (may He be exalted) says:
"We sent her down on a blessed night. - Verily, We are the Warners!" [al-Dukhan 44:3].

What is the night of power - the meaning of Laylat-al-Qadr
The Night of Power is the most cherished night in the Islamic calendar. During this night, the Angel Jibril revealed the first verses of the Holy Qur'an to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This night falls on the last 10 days of Ramadan, and although the exact date is not known, it is generally believed to be the 27th night of the holy month. However, the faithful are advised to seek this night during the last 10 odd nights of Ramadan, following the example of the Prophet (peace be upon him). It is reported that the Prophet (pzn) said:
"Look for Laylat al-Qadr in the last ten days of Ramadan." [Bukhari i Muslim].
It is a night of great reward and significance. On this blessed night, the faithful are encouraged to devote themselves to worshipping Allah (may He be exalted), who has placed it higher in virtue than a thousand months.
"We actually revealed this in 'Night of Power'. And what will explain to you what a night of power is? The Night of Power is better than a thousand months. In it, the Angels and the Spirit descend, with Allah's permission, on every matter. "Peace! Until the morning rises!"
-Surah Al-Qadr

Dua for Laylat-al-Qadr
The best dua in the case of Laylat-al-Qadr is the dua that the Prophet (peace be upon him) taught Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) It is reported that she asked the Prophet (peace be upon him): "O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylat-al-Qadr, what should I say?". He replied:
"Say: اللَّهمَّإنَّكعفُوٌّتُحبُّالعفوَفاعْفُعنِّي
Allahummainnakaafuwwuntuhibb al-afwafa’fu anni
(O Allah, You are Forgiving and You love forgiveness, so forgive me)"
